Sometimes we don’t get what we want. Births rarely oblige the plans we make. Even still, a child entering the world is an incredible feat. Renee and Josiah worked through labor in laughter and tears, and even when progress was slow, they were strong. I am so proud of these two friends of mine. Because I was primarily a doula for this birth, and because I left a couple times to nurse my own babe, the labor photos tell most of the story, but not all. Josiah and I double teamed frequently for Renee with massages, water, and holding that lovely little bag o’ puke.
On a personal note, I’m in love with being a doula/birth photographer. I’m not sure what I would choose if I had to pick between one or the other. Although let’s be honest… it would be incredibly difficult for me to doula without photographing. All that being said, world, meet Reese. She’s a lucky lady.
